Today I had another appointment with my doctor and we are at
15 weeks. I wasn’t sure what today’s
appointment was going to be about as my doctor had told me at the 8 week
appointment that I wouldn’t “SEE” the baby again until around the 20
weeks. But at the 11-week
appointment I got very lucky and the nurse used the ultrasound to find the baby’s
heartbeat instead of the Doppler.
Which was great but I had a feeling that an ultrasound was only going to
be an option if they couldn’t find the heartbeat with the Doppler….and I was
right. We talked to the doctor a
little bit and then she got the Doppler out to find the heartbeat. It took about 5 seconds and then she
found it and it was beating a healthy 154 beats per minute. I asked the doctor if it was a problem
that the heartbeat had declined from 167 last appointment to 154 and she said
that it slows down the bigger the baby gets so I shouldn’t worry.
The next appointment is scheduled for 20 weeks. They have genetics blood testing so I
am going to have that just so we don’t have any surprises and then at our 20
weeks appointment there will be an ultrasound and lots of measuring of the
baby. Looking for any
abnormalities. Keeping our fingers
crossed that everything is great and we have a healthy, happy baby growing for
October picking J
